RUI ALBUQUERQUE

Born in 1962, iniciated his artistic formation with his father, former drawing professor in António Arroio Art School and Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation of Lisbon ( Portugal ).
Entered very young to learn art restoration with Master Edmundo Oliveira e Silva in his workshop in Lisbon, where the contact with naturalist and plein air painting cemented the passion for landscape. Still during his adolescence the personal contact with Masters such as Henrique Medina, Jaime Murteira ( Portuguese ), Martin Maqueda ( Spanish ), among others, from whom he received a strong incentive, was fundamental to continue painting.
In 1981 received a 3rd prize in a plein air contest organized by Rotary Club of Sintra, and in 1982 had his 1st individual exhibition in the Palace Valenças in Sintra.
Member of the National Society of Fine Arts since 1984, where he studied with painter Sá Nogueira and sculptor Quintino Sebastião.
Among others, worked in the restoration of the paintings on the ceilings of the Palace Pinto Basto in Lisbon, the Church of Nª Senhora da Piedade in Cova da Piedade. During the military service restored in the Military Museum in Lisbon. Still works in restoration.
Besides painting and restoration, has worked in graphic arts (logos), made decorative painting for PSI restaurante in Lisbon,where he also conceived the design of the cascade and part of the garden. Recently made polychromy of Sacred Art.
Awarded 7 times in art contests. Has works in the Portuguese Consulship in Rio de Janeiro - Brasil, Town Halls of Mêda and Gouveia, Regional Museums of Sintra and Aljubarrota, First Gallery - Lisbon, Aliança wine-cellars in Sangalhos and Several Private Colections in Portugal and abroad.

Paticipation in more than 50 group exhibitions and 27 solo exhibitions.
